LeadingAge Wisconsin proudly congratulates two exceptional leaders, Jennifer Michalak, staff development coordinator at Clement Manor, and Marissa Janke, vice president of development & outreach at LeadingAge Wisconsin, on being named 2026 McKnight's Women of Distinction honorees.
Michalak and Janke were recognized as “Veteran VIPs,” a category honoring professionals with more than 15 years of experience who have made significant contributions to the senior living, skilled nursing, and home care fields. Their recognition reflects not only their individual achievements, but also their shared commitment to advancing quality care, strengthening the workforce, and supporting older adults across Wisconsin and beyond.
The 2026 McKnight’s Women of Distinction Awards & Forum took place on May 4, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, bringing together leaders from across the country to celebrate excellence in aging services. The day included an educational forum featuring industry insights and leadership discussions, followed by an evening cocktail reception and awards ceremony honoring 61 women for their impact and innovation in care delivery.
As part of the event, Janke also participated as a panelist during the forum, contributing her expertise to discussions on leadership and challenges facing women in care settings. Her participation—and the broader experience—highlighted both personal achievement and meaningful opportunities to strengthen professional connections. Reflecting on the event, Janke shared that the experience was “both personally fulfilling and professionally valuable,” noting the chance to build new relationships, expand outreach for LeadingAge Wisconsin, and elevate awareness of the association’s programs and conference.
Together, Michalak and Janke exemplify the passion, leadership, and dedication that define Wisconsin’s aging services community. Their national recognition underscores the vital role that mission-driven professionals play in shaping the future of care.
