According to Marsh McLennan Agency’s (MMA) annual analysis of regional benefit costs, healthcare employers are facing the highest annual average cost increase in years. Based on data from 47 Midwest-area healthcare companies, the average health benefit cost per employee is nearly $17,000. MMA’s recently released report pinpoints the biggest drivers as elevated healthcare service pricing, increased utilization rates, and a continued rise in prescription drug spending. Employers are rightfully concerned they could again be facing record increases as planning for 2027 gets underway.
